Cougars Select Goaltender Joonas Korpisalo Fifth Overall in 2012 CHL Import Draft

Prince George, BC - The Prince George Cougars have selected 1994-born goaltender Joonas Korpisalo (Pori, Finland) with the fifth overall selection in the 2012 CHL Import Draft. Korpisalo is 6'2", 172 pounds and was a third round selection (62nd overall) of the Columbus Blue Jackets in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft.

Last season Korpisalo recorded four shutouts and a 2.04 goals against average and a .920 save percentage in 38 games for the Jokerit, Helskinki junior team. He added a 1.77 goals against average and a .926 goals against average in four playoff games.

Korpisalo also represented Finland at the 2011 World Under-18 Championship and posted a 3.02 goals against average and a .902 save percentage in six games.
