Rome, GA - The Rome Braves bats came alive Wednesday night as for fifteen runs on 15 hits to defeat the Greenville Drive 15-3 before 1,997 fans. It was the largest offensive outburst this season.

The Drive struck first to open the game when Jose Garcia walked to lead off the inning, stole second and scored the game's first run on an RBI single by Garin Cecchini. Greenville would plate two more in the first to post a 3-0 lead. The Braves answered with three runs of their own in the bottom of the inning. A lead off walk to Tony Mueller, a single by Sergio Miranda and a Kyle Kubitza double made it 1-0. Robby Hefflinger and William Beckwith would both add RBI singles to tie the game at 3-3. Rome was not done and put together a five run fifth. Elmer Reyes began inning with a single and came around to score on a base hit by Mueller. A throwing error allowed Mueller to reach second and he later scored on a Kubitza base hit to make it a 5-3 game. Hefflinger then reached base on an error which allowed Kubitza to cross the plate and William Beckwith doubled home Hefflinger for the fourth run. A steal of third by Beckwith provided Will Skinner a sacrifice fly opportunity giving Rome an 8-3 advantage. The hitting parade continued for Rome, as they scored two runs in the sixth and three in the seventh for the final score of 15-3.

Several Braves had big nights, including Kubitza who was 3-4 with a double, three RBIs and three runs scored and Beckwith who went 2-4 with a double and two RBIs on the night. RHP David Filak (3-5) put in five innings of work for Rome, only allowing three runs and striking out seven as he recorded his third win of the season. RHP Yeiper Castillo (5-2) lasted 4.1 innings, giving up eight hits and five earned runs before recording the loss.

The Braves will go for the sweep tomorrow against the Greenville Drive at 1 PM.
