GENEVA, Ill. - An 11-inning contest sided with the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers as they clipped the Kane County Cougars in a 2-1 victory on Saturday night at Fifth Third Bank Ballpark to snap the Cougars' four-game win streak.

Tied at 1-1 entering the top of the 11th, Jason Rogers captured a leadoff single while Nick Ramirez walked and Greg Hopkins singled to load the bases for Wisconsin (23-13). Ben McMahan followed by grounding to second with Danny Mateo playing in, but he mishandled the ball, allowing Rogers to score the go-ahead tally.

Jason Mitchell (0-3) worked the final five innings in relief while surrendering just that one unearned score. Scott Alexander started for the Cougars (18-18) and tossed six frames while also allowing just one run on six hits. That run came in the fifth as McMahan walked, stole second and scored on a single by Tyler Roberts.

Kane County picked up their lone run in the bottom of the fifth. Kenny Swab singled and went to second on a wild pitch. When Tim Ferguson singled to the right side of the infield, Swab got stuck between third and home but was able to make it to the plate safely on a throwing error by third baseman Brandon Macias. Tommy Toledo (4-0) didn't even cough up a hit in his four innings of relief for the Rattlers while Seth Harvey (S, 7) worked around a pair of baserunners in the bottom of the 11th to close the contest.

The Cougars are at Fifth Third Bank Ballpark on Sunday afternoon when they play the Timber Rattlers in the second of a four-game series at 1:00. For tickets, please call (630) 232-8811 or visit www.kccougars.com. Right-hander Edwin Carl (2-2) starts for the Cougars against fellow righty Drew Gagnon (3-0).
