Omaha Storm Chasers News Release

PAPILLION, Neb. - When Jarrod Dyson tripled home Irving Falu to walk-off and give the Storm Chasers the 9-8 victory on Tuesday over Round Rock, it signaled the end of a game that went 16 innings and clocked in at five hours and 24 minutes.

The contest shattered the previous record for most innings in a game at Werner Park which was 11, a record that had been matched three times entering play on Tuesday. The two teams combined to use 13 pitchers and 23 position players in the matinee.

Falu, who was hitless for the season, went 4-for-8 with three RBI and three runs scored. Sean O'Sullivan (2-1) worked the 15th and 16th innings to snag the win.

Omaha (5-1) carved out their first run in the first inning when David Lough was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to score Johnny Giavotella. Round Rock (2-4) retaliated with a run in the second but the Chasers answered right back in the home half of the second on a RBI single by Derrick Robinson and a two-run bomb by Giavotella to charge ahead of the Express, 4-1.

Round Rock went on the attack in the third and was able to push three men across to score. Not to be outdone, the Storm Chasers took a 7-4 advantage by scoring three of their own in the third thanks to three-run home run by Falu.

Things remained still until the top of the fifth when the Express struck for three runs and tied the game at 7-7. Zeroes were put on the board by both teams until Round Rock put a scare into the Storm Chasers by plating a run in the top of the 10th to take a 8-7 lead. Mike Jirschele's squad would not back down however and a D. Robinson RBI single dead locked the game at 8-8. The hit would set Dyson up for his late-game heroics six innings later.

Omaha and Round Rock will face-off on Wednesday, April 11, at 6:35 p.m. in game three of their four-game series. Wednesday's contest is a Hit the Books game brought to you by the Nebraska Educational Savings Trust and Outback Steakhouse. Wednesday is also All You Can Eat Wednesday where fans may buy a special All You Can Eat ticket and fill their bellies full of delicious ballpark food.
