Greenville Drive News Release

Hagerstown, MD - Wins have been hard to come by all season for 2010 second round draft pick Brandon Workman. The right-hander's bad fate continued when he exited Sunday's game with his team only down a run, and in position for a comeback victory.

The Hagerstown Suns (56-43, 16-13) had other ideas, pouncing on Greenville's (52-48, 14-16) bullpen for four runs in the final two innings to capture a 7-2 victory in the second game of the series at Municipal Stadium.

Both Workman and Suns' starter Matt Grace were engaged in a pitchers' duel for most of the day, as Hagerstown broke a scoreless tie in the bottom of the third. Michael Taylor collected the game's first hit with a leadoff triple, and scored as Blake Kelso reached on an error.

Neither team was really able to ever get their offense on the right track, as it wasn't until the bottom of the sixth that there was another hit - once again coming from the home team. Following a pair of singles by David Freitas and Kevin Keyes, as well as base on balls issued to Jason Martinson, Wade Moore roped a double to give the Suns a three-run advantage.

Only needing one hit in the top of the seventh, the Drive pulled within a run. Brandon Jacobs doubled, stole third, and scored when Henry Ramos grounded into a fielder's choice. An error on the play setup Greenville's second run, as Xander Bogaerts lifted a sacrifice fly.

But when Greenville went to the bullpen, the Suns took advantage, blowing the game open. Juan Rodriguez allowed each of the first four batters to reach base in the bottom of the seventh, highlighted by a two-run single off the bat of Adrian Sanchez with the bases loaded.

An inning later, Hagerstown capped the game's scoring with two more runs against Dennis Neuman. Although the Drive turned a double play on Cole Leonida's fly ball to left, he was credited with an RBI as Russell Moldenhauer easily scored from third. Taylor finished off Greenville with a solo homer.

The Drive and Suns continue their four-game series on Monday with first pitch set for 3:05 PM, moved up from 7:05 PM due to a storm that knocked over a light pole in leftfield on Thursday evening. Right-hander Keith Couch will toe the rubber for Greenville, while Hagerstown counters with southpaw Robbie Ray.

The Drive return home to Fluor Field on Thursday, July 28th to closeout the month with a four-game series against the Charleston RiverDogs.
