Traverse City Beach Bums News Release

EVANSVILLE, IN-Traverse City Beach Bums starter David Deminsky allowed just one unearned run over six innings as they beat the Evansville Otters in front of 3,319 fans at Bosse Field by a score of 4-1 in a rain-shortened six innings.

During the ballgame, Deminsky learned that his sister, Stacey, was entering labor to have her first child. The lefty pitched six inspired innings on the mound to pick up his first win for the team.

The Beach Bums opened the scoring in the first inning on a long solo home run to left-center field from first baseman Chase Burch. Traverse City would capitalize on a double error in the fourth when Tom Zebroski hit a ground ball to short that resulted in two Beach Bums runs thanks to throwing errors by both Evansville shortstop Greg Fontenot and first baseman Mike Durant to give the Beach Bums a 3-0 lead. Catcher John Parham drove in a run on a groundout in the sixth to make it 4-0 in favor of Traverse City.

Otters starting pitcher David Francis (0-2) left the game with a hamstring injury prior to the third inning after allowing the solo home run to Burch in picking up his third loss of 2011. The Beach Bums improve to 23-22 with the win, while Evansville falls to 12-33 with the loss. Beach Bums first baseman Chase Burch led the team going 3-for-3 at the plate with a walk in the contest.

The Beach Bums head to Florence, Kentucky for a three-game series to end the first half of the season beginning Friday night at 7:05 p.m. Right hander Matt Smith gets the start for the Beach Bums. He'll be opposed by Florence righty Andy Clark. Be sure to catch all the action beginning with the Budweiser Pregame Show starting at 6:45 p.m. on Sunny Country 101.9 FM and streaming online through tcbeachbums.com.
