LOVES PARK, Ill. - The Rockford RiverHawks rallied from an early deficit to beat the Florence Freedom, 5-4, on Thursday at Road Ranger Stadium.

Four Rockford pitchers combined on a six-hitter as the RiverHawks completed their first series sweep of the year. The RiverHawks went 5-1 on their final homestand before the Frontier League All-Star Game.

Florence scored three times off Rockford starter Matt Zoltak in the first inning, but Zoltak allowed just three runners to reach base after that.

Rockford rallied for two runs in the second inning and a run in the third. In the sixth, Chris Curley hit his 10th home run of the year to give the Freedom a 4-3 lead.

In the bottom of the sixth, Florence starter Anthony Bello (1-3) departed after he began the inning with walks of Jeremy Richter and Cam Satterwhite. Alec Lewis relieved him, and after a sacrifice bunt by Carlos Dominguez, Greg Van Horn singled in the tying run and Freddy Parejo drove in the go-ahead run with a sacrifice fly.

Zoltak (3-1) gave up four runs on six hits over 6 1/3 innings for the win. The Rockford bullpen did not give up a hit. Brett Durand pitched a perfect ninth inning for his eighth save.

The RiverHawks close the first half with a three-game series at Evansville, starting at 6:35 p.m. Friday. The RiverHawks' next home game is at 7:05 p.m. July 21, when they host Washington on a Miller Lite/RBI's Thirsty Thursday.

The RiverHawks are members of the Frontier League, a 12-team independent professional baseball league in its 19th season. Advertising and ticket information is available by calling (815) 885-2255. Fans can also visit www.rockfordriverhawks.com.
