 Gateway Grizzlies

Agreste Added to All-Star Roster

July 7, 2011 - Frontier League (FL)
Gateway Grizzlies News Release

On Thursday, Gateway Grizzlies outfielder Joe Agreste was one of the final six players to be selected to play in the 2011 Frontier League All-Star Game.

The Chesapeake, Virginia native was one of three players selected by River City field manager Steve Brooke to represent the Frontier League West Division at All Pro Freight Stadium next Wednesday.

River City first basemen Joash Brodin and pitcher Brandon Cunniff were the two other players that rounded out the managerial selections for the West.

For Agreste, a stat-line that features a .328 batting average that ranks tenth in the Frontier League and superb defense was enough to give him the nod for his first All-Star game in his professional career.

"Even with the talent this league has in the outfield, Joe clearly deserved to be an All-Star this year," said Grizzlies field manager Phil Warren. "He's been good all season long for us, and his stats show that."

Agreste will be the fifth Grizzlies player to make the trip to Avon, Ohio, as he'll join designated hitter Charlie Lisk, first basemen Logan Parker, pitchers Mark Brackman and Chris Enourato in Lake Erie.

The West Virginia University product is also now one of five outfielders on the roster for the West.

Following the 2011 Frontier League All-Star game, the Grizzles start the second half of their season off with three games at GCS Ballpark against the Florence Freedom beginning Friday, July 15.
