JOLIET, Ill. - The Miners avoided a sweep with a 10-4 win Thursday night in Joliet. The Miners took a 4-3 lead in the fifth inning on Will Block's second home run of the game then broke the game wide open with a six-run rally in the sixth inning, punctuated by Sean Coughlin's grand slam to extend the lead to 10-3.

Joe Augustine tossed six innings and allowed three earned runs off just three hits to pick up the win in his second consecutive start since coming off the injured list last week.

Ryan Quigley, Clayton Dill and Erik Draxton each tossed a scoreless inning out of the bullpen to prevent a Joliet comeback.

Five Miners had multiple hits in the game as Block and Coughlin led the charge with 4 RBIs apiece.

Joliet took a 1-0 lead in the second inning on a double steal with runners at the corners, and the Miners tied it in the third when Sean Harrell scored from second base on ground ball to third base that resulted in an error.

The Miners six-run sixth inning was aided by three hit batsmen and one walk.

The Miners will continue the road trip on Friday as they open a three-game series with the Windy City ThunderBolts at 7:05 p.m. Righty Brendon Malkowski (4-2, 3.38) will be on the mound for the Miners against lefty John Mincone (0-0, 2.70) who will make his first start for Windy City.

The all-star break begins after the final game against the Bolts on Sunday. The Miners will begin the second half at home against River City on Friday, July 15 at 7:05 p.m.
