GRAND CHUTE, WI - The Wisconsin Timber Rattlers got home runs from Cody Hawn and Mike Walker and clutch relief pitching from Charly Bashara and Greg Holle in a 5-4 win over the Quad Cities River Bandits Monday night at Time Warner Cable Field. Hawn had three hits to lead the Rattlers 11-hit attack. Wisconsin won their second straight game by holding on for the victory against the Bandits.

Quad Cities (14-17) scored first with a run in the third inning. They had runners at the corners and no outs. Rattlers starting pitcher Matt Miller got Nick Longmire to ground into a 4-6-3 double play that allowed the runner from third to score.

Wisconsin (13-15) came back in the bottom of the third. Three straight singles by TJ Mittelstaedt, Cody Hawn, and Chris Dennis tied the game. Then, Mike Walker launched his sixth home run of the season. The opposite field, three-run blast to left by Walker gave the Rattlers a 4-1 lead.

However, Miller struggled through four innings. He gave up one run on one hit, but hit a batter and walked seven with two strikeouts.

The Bandits rallied in the top of the fifth inning against Damon Krestalude with an RBI single by Juan Castillo and an RBI double by Packy Elkins with one out to make the score 4-3. Krestalude got the second out with runners at second and third. Charly Bashara came in and got out of the inning with a grounder to first.

In the fifth, Hawn lined a home run to left and the Rattlers went up 5-3. The homer, Hawn's third of the season, was his second in as many days for the Rattlers.

Bashara retired nine straight batters and cruised to the eighth inning. He got the first two outs in the eighth, but Chris Edmondson hit a solo homer to cut Wisconsin's lead to one run. A walk and a single put runners on the corners. Rattlers closer Greg Holle was called in from the bullpen. Holle extinguished the rally by getting Longmire to ground back to the mound.

In the top of the ninth, Oscar Taveras singled to start the inning, but he was erased on a force play that put Jonathan Rodriguez. Pinch-runner Starlin Rodriguez took over at first and decided to challenge Rattlers catcher Tyler Roberts.

Rodriguez took off for second on a 1-1 pitch to try to get into scoring position. Roberts, threw out the would-be base stealer for the second out of the inning.

Holle punctuated the evening with a strikeout of Juan Castillo to go to 6-for-6 in save opportunities this season.

Wisconsin took two out of three games in the series with the River Bandits.

The Rattlers begin a three-game series with the Cedar Rapids Kernels on Tuesday night. Del Howell (0-3, 4.37) is the scheduled starting pitcher for the Rattlers. Suammy Baez (1-2, 4.31) is set to go for the Kernels. Game time is 6:35pm.
