Utah Grizzlies News Release

West Valley City, Utah - Utah Grizzlies Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Kevin Colley today announced that goaltender J.P. Lamoureux and six-foot-eight forward and enforcer Riley Emmerson have joined the team from the AHL's Abbotsford Heat.

Utah and Abbotsford are the minor league affiliates for the Calgary Flames.

Lamoureux, a familiar name and now former villain to Grizzlies fans joins the team after being named the 2008-2009 ECHL Goaltender of the Year with the Alaska Aces. During that rookie season, Lamoureux went 10-1-1 against Utah and 33-16-2 overall in Alaska as he was also named to the league's All First Team and All Rookie Team. His 10 wins against Utah included five shutouts versus the Grizzlies. The North Dakota native signed with the Flames organization this past summer after going 14-12-2 with the AHL's Portland Pirates in the Buffalo Sabres organization in 2009-2010. He led Alaska to game seven of the Kelly Cup Finals in June of 2009.

Emmerson, a 2005 draft pick of the Minnesota Wild, also is a familiar name for those who have followed the Grizzlies. He has competed against Utah with both Texas and Stockton. Last year with the Thunder, the British Columbia native totaled 78 penalty minutes in 46 games and added one goal and five assists. He played 42 games, chipping in 107 penalty minutes for the AHL's Rochester Americans in 2008-2009. In 2007-2008, he was a teammate of current Grizzlies defenseman David Schulz in Texas as the Wildcatters put together one of the best regular seasons in ECHL history as they went 52-9-11.

Utah's preseason opener is Friday in Boise against Idaho. The Grizzlies return to Utah Saturday to play the Steelheads in Logan at the Eccles Ice Center at 7:30 p.m. Training camp continues all week at the Acord Center. Visit www.utahgrizzlies.com for more information.

The Grizzlies open the 2010-2011 season Friday, October 15 in Alaska with the home opener being Friday, October 22 when Utah welcomes Bakersfield to Maverik Center for a 7:05 p.m. start.
