Bakersfield Condors News Release

Bakersfield, Calif. - The Bakersfield Condors, host of the 2010-11 ECHL All-Star Classic and ECHL affiliate of the Minnesota Wild, announced today that C Andrew Ianiero has agreed to terms with the Condors for the 2010-11 season. In addition, the Houston Aeros have assigned C Rylan Kaip and D Jean-Francois David to the Condors. The announcements were made by Head Coach Marty Raymond.

Ianiero, 29, returns for his sixth straight season in Condorstown and seventh overall. He played his first game with the Condors during his third professional season after being acquired from the Charlotte Checkers in 2003-04. After one season with Bakersfield, Ianiero joined the Texas Wildcatters for the 2004-05 season, but then returned to Condorstown the following year. Ianiero has been with the club ever since.

In his Condors career, Ianiero has amassed a whopping 316 points, good enough for second all-time in Condors history (behind Paul Willett's 388). He is second in assists with 214, and fourth in goals, lighting the lamp 102 times. Ianiero also leads all Condors in playoff appearances with 43, and no player has more playoff points (32) and goals (16) than the Hamilton, Ontario, native. He is poised to pass Paul Rosebush (416 games) for the all-time Bakersfield mark for games played this season, currently sitting at 396 games.

Kaip, 26, comes to Condorstown after spending the past two seasons with the Chicago Wolves (AHL). Kaip skated in 110 games in those seasons, and scored 14 points (5g, 9a). Prior to turning pro with the Wolves in 2008-09, Kaip played four seasons for the University of North Dakota, winning a WCHA Championship and earning a trip to the Frozen Four in 2005-06. He was drafted by the Atlanta Thrashers in the ninth round, 269 overall, in 2003.

David, 28, has a wealth of professional experience. He has played six seasons professionally in North America, including stops in the AHL, ECHL, CHL, and UHL. In 281 games in those four leagues, David has earned 152 points and 408 PIM, including 8 goals and 41 assists for 49 points in 66 ECHL games. He has also spent time overseas in France (2008-09), Austria (2007-08), and Germany (2005-06). In 2008-09, David was placed on the French All-Star Team, and had the most assists by a defenseman with 24. David played in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League prior to turning pro for four full seasons and part of a fifth, ranking second among defenseman in total points with 70 during the 2001-02 season.

What Marty says:

"We're happy to have Andrew's experience back with the team. He's excited to be back and we're pleased to have him. J.F. and Rylan will certainly make a big impact on our club. We're thrilled to have their leadership and their skill on our hockey team here at the start of the season."

Three players under contract to the Condors have also been released from their tryout with Houston. D Jay Cascalenda, D Jason Lepine, and RW Bobby Robins will rejoin the Condors for the remainder of training camp. The Condors will play their first preseason game in Las Vegas on Oct. 7 before returning home for more preseason action against the Wranglers on Oct. 9.
