Aeros Stat of the Day:

. The Aeros lost their fourth game of the season Thursday when leading after seven innings, tying Altoona for second in that category. New Hampshire is first with only one loss.

Aerodynamics.

. The replay. The Thunder struck initially in the first inning as Austin Romine doubled in Daniel Brewer for a quick 1-0 lead. Akron did not score until the fourth inning when they took advantage of a Trenton miscue. Right fielder John Drennen started the Aeros offense with a walk and advanced to second on a single by catcher Miguel Perez. With left fielder Lucas Montero batting, Drennen and Perez both advanced 90 feet on a wild pitch. A fielding error by Trenton allowed Montero to reach safely while Drennen and Perez scored to give Akron a 2-1 lead. Trenton regained control in the eighth frame as Justin Christian hit his third home run in two games to lead off the inning. An RBI single by Brewer gave the hosts a 3-2 lead. Connor Graham blew the save and took the loss to fall to 3-6. Pat Venditte earned his first win and only decision with Trenton.

. Repeat performance. The Aeros right-handed starter Matt Packer turned in his second-straight excellent performance as the reigning Akron Aeros Player of the Week allowed one run on five hits while striking out eight against two walks in seven innings of work. Packer was in line to record the win but took a no decision as Trenton came back to defeat the Aeros.

. Road Warrior. Center fielder Jordan Henry started off the eight-game road trip to end the season in a favorable way. The Houston, Texas native weathered the Trenton Thunder storm hitting for an average of .500 by going 8-16 at the plate with three walks, a double, triple, and three runs scored.

. Keep hitting. As the season draws toward a close, Akron currently remains at the top of the Eastern League in team batting average. The Aeros currently are hitting .274 for the season. The Binghamton Mets come in second in that category with a batting average of .269.

. Changing tides. Akron did receive some help from Harrisburg as they lost 3-2 to New Hampshire, but the Western Division wild card lead now belongs to Bowie after their 7-2 victory over Altoona. The Aeros are four games behind the Baysox with four games to play. In order to make the playoffs, Akron must win out with a sweep of Erie and hope that the Baysox also get swept by Richmond and Harrisburg loses all five games against Binghamton. If that were to happen, Akron would travel to Bowie for a play-in game against the Baysox for the wild card spot to face the Altoona Curve in the Western Division Championship Series.

. Sinking SeaWolves. The Aeros have more wins against the Erie SeaWolves this season than against any other team in the Eastern League. No other team has more wins against the SeaWolves this season. Akron is 13-5 against Erie in the 2010 campaign, but only three of those wins have come at Jerry Uht Park. The SeaWolves defeated the Aeros at Canal Park last Sunday in a battle of today's starters. It was the first win for Erie in Canal Park since May 24, 2009.
