Kris Johnson earned his first win since late May on Thursday night and it was well-deserved. Johnson went 6 innings, allowing a single run on 4 hits, while striking out 6 hitters. The PawSox won the first game after the All Star break, 8-2 in Syracuse. Johnson looked sharp, with good control and command. Newcomer Santo Luis worked a good seventh inning but got into trouble in the eighth. Tommy Hottovy came in and put out the fire, getting Leonard Davis to hit into a 2-3, inning ending double play.

Pawtucket had an abundance of offense, knocking out 14 base hits. They scored 5 runs in the second inning against starter and loser Luis Atilano. Ryan Kalish, Bubba Bell, Lars Anderson, Josh Reddick, Niuman Romero and Gil Velazquez had 2 hits each. Jed Lowrie made his PawSox debut for 2010. Lowrie is on a M.L. rehab assignment (mononucleosis). Jed had a sacrifice fly that scored a run as well as a double and a run scored.

The series continues on Friday night at 7:00 p.m. Jason Jones (1-3, 4.07) faces American League All Star, Clay Buchholz. Buchholz is making a rehab start (hamstring). He is 10-4, 2.45 with the Red Sox.
