McGuiness's Blast Propels Drive Past Suns, 4-3

Greenville, SC - It was getting late, and Chris McGuiness was ready to go home.

He did his part to make that happen, as he cranked a solo home run the opposite way to left-center field - over the Green Monster - in the bottom of the ninth inning to give the Drive (47-39, 11-5) a dramatic 4-3 victory over the Hagerstown Suns (42-44, 6-10).

The game had been delayed for two hours because of rain, and with a tie score in the bottom of the ninth, the game appeared to be headed for extra innings before McGuiness's solo shot off the Suns' Patrick Arnold (2-3).

The Drive held a 3-2 lead going into the top of the ninth, but Francisco Soriano's two-out single off Greenville reliever Anatanaer Batista (3-4) tied the game as Eury Perez scored on a close play at the plate.

Batista, however, worked out of further trouble. With Soriano on second after advancing to second on the throw home, Batista made a nice play on a grounder by Justino Cuevas, throwing him out to end the frame with the score at 3-3. The stage was thus set for McGuiness's heroics.

In what was a back-and-forth game, it was the Suns who struck first, as Steven Souza's first-innin
