Evansville Otters News Release
(EVANSVILLE, Ind.) - Wayde Kitchens struck out a season-high 13 batters as the Oakland County Cruisers defeated the Evansville Otters 5-0 on Friday night.
The right-handed pitcher totaled 13 strikeouts coming into the game and pitched eight shutout innings as the Cruisers snapped a two-game losing streak.
Both starting pitchers battled each other in the early innings as Evansville's Chris Peters retired five of the first six batters he faced. Kitchens also was successful early on as the Oceanside, California native totaled five strikeouts over the same time frame.
Oakland County scored first with a sacrifice fly from former Evansville Otter Zachary Pace in the third inning and the score stayed that way until the top of the sixth inning. That was when Martin Parra hit a three-run home run to left field for the 4-0 edge. The Cruisers added another run later in the game on a wild pitch in the win.
Both teams will meet again tomorrow night as Oakland County and Evansville continue the three game weekend series at Bosse Field. First pitch will be at 6:35 PM on Evansville Teachers Federal Credit Union Night at the Ballpark.
