Bakersfield Jam News Release

(Bakersfield, Calif. - March 2, 2010) - The Bakersfield Jam added a tenth player to the roster with the acquisition of Trey Johnson, who led the 2008-09 Jam in scoring.

Johnson, who received a Gatorade Call-Up to the Cleveland Cavaliers last season, played in the NBA preseason with the Chicago Bulls before heading over to France to join Gravelines in the French ProA League. In 17 games for Gravelines, he averaged 8.8 points and 2.2 rebounds in 23.2 minutes per game.

"I'm happy to be coming back [to Bakersfield]," Johnson said. "I'm ready to get back to playing an NBA style of basketball."

Playing for Bakersfield during the 2008-09 season, Johnson averaged 20.7 points, 4.5 assists and 3.8 rebounds in 40.1 minutes over 39 games. His production earned him a trip to the 2009 NBA D-League All-Star Game in addition to his call-up. He will fill the roster spot vacated by Keith Brumbaugh, whose injury will keep him out for the remainder of the season.

"It is great to have Trey back in Bakersfield," Jam head coach Will Voigt said. "He was a wonderful player and person in the community last season, and we are excited to have him join us."

Johnson is expected to be in uniform for Bakersfield's Tuesday night game in Los Angeles against the D-Fenders.
