Crunch Run Over By Rampage

December 30, 2009 - American Hockey League (AHL) - Syracuse Crunch News Release

San Antonio, TX (December 30, 2009) - The Syracuse Crunch's final game of 2009 turned into a microcosm of the season to this point, as they gave up three unanswered goals and a 2-0 lead, falling to the San Antonio Rampage tonight by a 3-2 count at the AT&T Center.

The Crunch jumped ahead and scored the game's first goal for the third consecutive contest when Bates Battaglia centered a perfect feed from the left half-wall to captain Derek MacKenzie, who snapped a shot from the slot past Justin Pogge for the 1-0 advantage at the 14:32 mark of the first.

Center Mike Radja tallied his first of the season and first as a member of the Crunch when he put one past Pogge nine minutes into the second stanza to put Syracuse up by a 2-0 advantage.

Just two minutes later, San Antonio pounced to re-gain some momentum when Tyler Kolarik notched a power play goal with Jared Aulin in the box to cut the Crunch lead in half.

With Aulin again in the penalty box just minutes later, Kyle Turris cashed in on a rebound from the right side of the net, burying the biscuit past Kevin Lalande to knot the game at 2-2 with just under three minutes to go in the second.

San Antonio capped its comeback with almost exactly 11 minutes remaining in regulation when Sean Sullivan's floater from the point made its way through traffic and into the back of the net to make it 3-2.
