Minnesota Lynx Unveil 2010 Regular-Season Schedule

MINNEAPOLIS/ST. PAUL - The Minnesota Lynx will open their 12th season of WNBA basketball in the Twin Cities on Saturday, May 15 when they travel to Tulsa, Oklahoma to take on the WNBA's Tulsa franchise at 7:00 p.m. Minnesota will open the home portion of its schedule the following night, Sunday, May 16 vs. Washington with tip-off scheduled for 6:00 p.m. The 2010 WNBA campaign consists of 34 regular-season contests (17 home/17 away) from May through August.

The Lynx will play Western Conference teams San Antonio (three times at home, two on the road) and Tulsa (two times at home, three on the road) five times each, and Los Angeles, Phoenix and Seattle four times apiece, twice at home and twice on the road. Minnesota will play each Eastern Conference team (Atlanta, Chicago, Connecticut, Indiana, New York and Washington) twice, one time each at home and on the road. Minnesota's 2010 schedule features two national television appearances: Tuesday, June 1 vs. Phoenix and Saturday, August 7 at Chicago.

"This has been a tremendous offseason for us to date: Acquiring the Nos. 1 and 3 picks in next spring's WNBA Draft, hiring longtime successful WNBA assistant Cheryl Reeve as our new head coach, the return to health of two-time WNBA All-Star Seimone Augustus and 2009 All-Star Nicky Anosike, and the addition of another All-Star forward in Rebekkah Brunson through the Dispersal Draft. We look forward to building on the momentum we've established this offseason and are very excited about the prospects for the 2010 season and beyond."

Minnesota's 17-game home schedule features 10 weekend dates (1 - Friday, 3 - Saturday, 6 - Sunday) as well as three Tuesday games, one Wednesday matchup and three Thursday contests. For the eighth straight year, Minnesota will host one weekday afternoon game, a noon tipoff against the Atlanta Dream on Wednesday, July 14.

Highlights of the home portion of Minnesota's schedule include: 2009 Regular Season and Finals MVP Diana Taurasi and the 2009 WNBA Champion Phoenix Mercury will make two visits to Target Center (Tuesday, June 1 and Saturday, July 24); Candace Parker's Los Angeles Sparks will travel to Target Center Tuesday, July 27 and Thursday, August 12; Lindsay Whalen and the Connecticut Sun will journey to Minneapolis for their lone appearance at Target Center on Tuesday, August 3; Janel Mccarville's New York Liberty take on the Lynx at Target Center on Sunday, August 8.

Minnesota's longest homestand is a six-game affair, beginning Thursday, July 8 vs. San Antonio and concluding Tuesday, July 27 vs. Los Angeles. The Lynx will begin a stretch of four consecutive games on the road on Saturday, June 19 at Tulsa. The road stint, spanning 13 days, will wrap up Thursday, July 1 at Atlanta. Minnesota's regular season home finale will be on Sunday, August 15 vs. San Antonio.

- The longest Lynx homestand is a six-game affair from July 8 - 27 (San Antonio, Atlanta, Seattle, San Antonio, Phoenix, Los Angeles). Minnesota has two, two-game homestands.
