Two-Time WNBA Champion Phoenix Mercury Releases 2010 Schedule

PHOENIX - The Phoenix Mercury today announced the team's schedule for the upcoming 2010 season. Phoenix tips off its 14th season at US Airways Center against the Los Angeles Sparks on Saturday, May 15. The matchup, which will air live on ESPN2 at 11 a.m., will feature the championship ring presentation and banner unveiling.

The Mercury's 34-game schedule, including 17 home games, runs from May 15 through August 22. Thirteen of the team's games at US Airways Center are on the weekend. Fans will be able to catch the action during the team's six nationally televised games on ESPN2, which is twice the number of national broadcasts as last year. The national television slate includes the Mercury's season opener at home and road games on May 25 at Tulsa, June 1 at Minnesota, July 6 at Los Angeles, July 27 at Seattle and Aug. 10 at Chicago.

"We've made changes in our schedule this year that should allow more people to enjoy the season in its entirety," said Mercury President and COO Jay Parry. "More than 75 percent of the games fall on a weekend, which we know in more convenient for our fans. Mercury games at US Airways Center in the summer make for cool and very affordable entertainment option for families in the Valley."

Phoenix will play one back-to-back set with a trip to play the Eastern Conference Champion Indiana Fever on Aug. 13 and New York Liberty on Aug. 14. The Mercury has three road trips of three or more games, including an eight-day, four-game trip from Aug. 10-17.
