
Chicago Sky Announce 2010 Schedule

CHICAGO, December 17, 2009 - The Chicago Sky announce its 2010 schedule today highlighted by the home opener at the world class Allstate Arena on Saturday, May 22 at 7pm CDT against the defending WNBA Eastern Conference champion Indiana Fever. The 2010 WNBA regular season consists of 34 games played May 15 through August 22. There will be 17 home Sky games, including 10 weekend dates and seven weekday dates, all of which will be played at Allstate Arena.
The Sky open the season with back-to-back games on the east coast on Saturday, May 15 against Connecticut and Sunday, May 16 against New York before returning to the Allstate Arena for the Home Opener on Saturday, May 22 against Indiana and local product Tamika Catchings. The Sky will enjoy its longest consecutive stretch of games at Allstate Arena starting Saturday, June 5 against Tulsa, then hosting New York on the 8th, Washington on the 11th and ending Tuesday, June 15 against Atlanta.
All six Western Conference opponents will play against the Sky at Allstate Arena once in 2010 with marquee matchups in each game. Highlights include All Star centers Sylvia Fowles of the Sky and Lauren Jackson of the Storm clashing when Seattle comes to town on May 27. On June 16 the Los Angeles Sparks come to Allstate, pitting All Star forwards Candice Dupree of the Sky and Candace Parker of the Sparks against one another. All Star guard Jia Perkins and the rest of the Sky will be tested when All Stars Diana Taurasi and Cappie Pondexter and the defending WNBA Champion Phoenix Mercury come to Chicago on August 10.
With the Sky's move to Allstate Arena there will be expanded television coverage. ESPN 2 is announcing today that it will broadcast two games nationally from Allstate: Saturday, August 7 against Minnesota at 2pm CDT and Tuesday, August 10 against Phoenix at 7pm CDT. The Sky will be announcing its expanding local broadcast schedule after the first of the year.
The Sky's last regular season game at Allstate Arena in 2010 will be Friday, August 20 against Connecticut at 7:30pm CDT. The regular season finale is the next night at Tulsa at 7pm CDT.
