
Greenville Drive Game to Celebrate Spartanburg Community

Greenville, SC - The Greenville Drive has partnered with leaders from across Spartanburg County to feature that community's rich quality of life advantages at the September 1st Drive game against the Bowling Green Hot Rods. USC Upstate will be the presenting sponsor of the event at Flour Field and proceeds from commemorative t-shirt sales will be donated by the Drive for the construction of the new free2play Carolina Miracle Park playground.
Drive President and Co-Owner, Craig Brown, commented on the game noting, "Spartanburg's active families, schools, churches and businesses are key members of the Drive family, and great assets to the Upstate." Brown added, "The Spartanburg Community Night is always a highlight of our season!"
Pam Dean, Executive Director of the Carolina Miracle League, commented on the fundraising support the Drive is providing for the new Miracle Park playground. "We were delighted to have the Drive's support for the new free2play playground, which will be the first of its kind in the Upstate, designed for all children and families to enjoy, including those with disabilities." Dean added, "The custom designed Spartanburg Community Partner T-shirts are really cool and we are grateful that the Drive is donating those sales proceeds for our playground construction."
A number of Spartanburg Community leaders and organizations are scheduled to take part in the festivities surrounding the game; including Mayor Bill Barnet, who will throw out the Ceremonial First Pitch, players from the Carolina Miracle League, who will take the field with the Drive Team during the National Anthem, and drum bands and cheerleaders from Spartanburg area high schools and colleges who will perform before and during the game.
Mike deMaine, Drive General Manager, commented on the upcoming game, saying, "We are excited to have the September 1st game at Fluor Field set aside to pay tribute to a great baseball community, and to the citizens and businesses who are making Spartanburg the success story it is today!" deMaine added, "We've been very encouraged by the enthusiastic response we've had for this event from folks all across the Spartanburg Community, including schools, corporations, civic organizations and even the media It's going to be a great night!."
