Crawdads announce 2010 Schedule

HICKORY, N.C. - With just under a month left in the 2009 campaign, the Hickory Crawdads, South Atlantic League affiliate of the Texas Rangers, have announced their schedule for the 2010 SAL regular season. Opening Day is scheduled for Thursday, April 8, 2010, when the Crawdads begin the season with a four-game series on the road against the Hagerstown Suns, before the Home Opener at L.P. Frans Stadium on Friday, April 16 against the Kannapolis Intimidators.

The Crawdads will remain in the Northern Division and will play 140 total games. The season will again be divided into two halves, both consisting of 70 games. The All-Star Break will serve as the divider and is scheduled for June 21-23, with the All-Star Game to be played on June 22.

Hickory will play more games outside of their division in 2010, with 74 contests against Southern Division teams and 66 games against Northern Division foes. The Crawdads will take on the Charleston RiverDogs more than any other team next season, with 17 games scheduled between the two squads. The I-40 rivalry between the Crawdads and Asheville Tourists will be fueled by 16 meetings, eight at L.P. Frans Stadium and eight at Historic McCormick Field. Hickory will host the Delmarva Shorebirds more than any other opponent next season, with 12 home games scheduled. The Crawdads will play 16 total games against both the Shorebirds and Kannapolis Intimidators, which is the highest total of games for Hickory against Northern Division teams next season.

Hickory is back home for an eight-game homestand against the Greenville Drive and Asheville Tourists, starting Monday at 7 p.m. Monday's game features 2-for-1 Senior Tickets, Tuesday is Dollar Day at the ballpark with KRAFT Singles Tuesday Night Tickets, and all kids run the bases after Wednesday's game, before the series concludes with $1 Beverage Night on Thursday.

The Crawdads then kick off the series against Asheville on Friday night at 7 p.m. with Friday Night Fireworks, sponsored by The Light 106.9 FM, as well as the Extreme Physical Science Show, presented by Catawba Science Center. Saturday night's game features the Crawdads Beach Towel Giveaway, sponsored by Galaxy Food Centers, Dial Liquid and Bar Soap and WHKY Talk Radio 1290 AM. On Sunday, the Crawdads will usher former GM David Haas to the South Atlantic League Hall of Fame with a pre-game ceremony. It is also Bark at the Park, presented by KICKS Radio Group, when all fans are invited to bring their dogs to the game! Final bids for the Crawdads Blast from the Past Jersey Auction will be collected in a silent auction on the concourse during the Sunday game as well.
