
Asheville's power not enough for West Virginia

(Charleston, WV) Kiel Roling, Jimmy Cesario and Mike Zuanich each hit homeruns but Asheville was out muscled by the West Virginia Power 9-4 on Monday night to open up an eight-game road trip. The Power extended their season-high winning streak to nine with a four-run fourth inning and three runs in the fifth inning. Tyler Trice entered the ballgame in the fourth inning after Parker Frazier was removed with what appeared to be an injury.
Trailing 2-0 in the second inning, Zuanich hit a two-run homerun of the leftfield wall to plate Roling ahead of himself. The homerun was the third of the season for Zuanich. West Virginia then took control with Frazier out of the game in the fourth inning,
Calvin Anderson hit his 11th homerun of the season to break the 2-2 tie in the fourth inning. Bobby Spain then walked and Danny Bomback singled. Austin McClune then drove in one with a double and Staling Marte hit a two-run single to give the Power a 6-2 lead.
The Power added three more runs in the fifth with another Starling Marte single amd Austin McClune hit. West Virginia posted 12 hits on the night and snapped a five-game home losing streak. Brian Leach (5-2) earned the win with six innings of work and five strikeouts. Leach allowed just four hits including two homeruns.
West Virginia scored two runs in the first inning off of Parker Frazier with a Tony Sanchez single and a Quincy Latimore double. Frazier would then pitch the next two innings scoreless before being lifted in the fourth frame with what appeared to be an injury.
Jimmy Ceasrio smacked his sixth homerun of the season off of reliever Diego Moreno in the eighth inning. Isaiah Froneberger hurled two scoreless innings with two strikeouts in relief of Trice.
The Tourists will try to end the three-game slide with the reigning pitcher of the week Juan Nicasio (7-1 1.68) on the mound from Appalachian Power park on Tuesday at 7:05.
