The Detroit Tigers, in conjunction with the West Michigan Whitecaps, announced today that shortstop Gustavo Nunez has been suspended by the Tigers and shortstop Hernan Perez has been assigned to the Whitecaps from the GCL Tigers.Nunez is batting .328 with a home run, 24 RBI and 37 stolen bases in 75 games with the Whitecaps this season.
Perez, who signed with the Tigers as a non-drafted free agent in 2007, is batting .255 with five RBI in 13 games with GCL this season.
The Whitecaps return home Wednesday, July 15 to take on the Peoria Chiefs at 7:00 p.m. Individual and group tickets are on sale and can be purchased at the West Michigan Glass Block Ticket Office at Fifth Third Ballpark, by calling the Whitecaps front office at 616-784-4131 or by visiting www.whitecapsbaseball.com.
