Hershey Bears News Release

The HERSHEY BEARS Hockey Club defeated the Worcester Sharks 3-2 Sunday at GIANT Center, and left wing Alexandre Giroux made American Hockey League history. Giroux scored a goal in his 15th straight game, breaking the old AHL record of goals in 14 straight games set by Brett Hull during the 1986-87 season.

Another busy week awaits the Chocolate and White with a road game in Norfolk Wednesday prior to the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins coming to GIANT Center Friday night at 7:00 p.m. Tickets for all BEARS home games are on sale now at the GIANT Center box office, or by calling (717) 534-3911.

BEARS Nation this Friday: Friday's home game with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton will be broadcast in the United States and Canada on Sirius/XM Satellite Radio. NHL Home Ice XM 204 and Sirius 208 will carry John Walton and Ed Coffey's call of the action beginning at 7:00 p.m. eastern Friday night. The game is the only AHL regular season game being broadcast this season by Sirius/XM while the NHL is on its All-Star break.

More Giroux: Alexandre Giroux reached the 30-goal plateau Friday in a win at Bridgeport, marking the fifth consecutive season he has scored 30 or more goals in a single season. Giroux is tied with several AHL players, including former HERSHEY forwards Brian Dobbin and Don Biggs, for third all-time in AHL history for consecutive seasons with 30 or more goals. The record, held by former Rochester forward Dick Gamble, is seven straight seasons at that level. Giroux scored a career-high 42 goals with HERSHEY during the 2006-07 season.

Neuvirth wins a big one: Goaltender Michal Neuvirth, in just his fourth AHL appearance, stopped five-of-five in the shootout Sunday against Worcester to win just his second AHL game. Neuvirth was recalled Friday from South Carolina (ECHL).

One-Two Punch: Linemates Keith Aucoin and Alexandre Giroux are one-two in the AHL in scoring as the new week begins. Aucoin, who has led the league in scoring since the first week of the season, has 55 points while Giroux is second with 52.

Washington update: The Capitals visit Long Island Monday afternoon to play the Islanders. The Southeast Division leaders then will visit Ottawa Tuesday at Scotiabank Place before the NHL All-Star break.
