Cohen Named In Glas Co ECHL Player of the Week
January 6, 2009 - ECHL (ECHL)
Cincinnati Cyclones News Release
CINCINNATI, Ohio - The Cincinnati Cyclones, ECHL affiliate of the Montreal Canadiens and Nashville Predators, announced this afternoon that Michael Cohen has been named In Glas Co ECHL Player of the Week for the week ending January 4, 2008. Cohen, 23, netted six goals and added an assist for a seven point week as the Cyclones went 2-1 on the week and moved into third place in the North Division standings.
Cohen, a native of Williamsville, NY, is the first Cyclones player to collect the In Glas Co Player of the Week award since Mathieu Aubin captured the award from Feb. 18-24 of last season. The five-foot-nine, 185 pounder scored the lone goal in a 6-1 loss at Wheeling on New Year's Eve. On Friday (Jan. 2), Michael registered his first pro hat trick and chipped in an assist for a four point night in a 6-1 win at Johnstown. The next night (Saturday, Jan. 3), he recorded a pair of goals including the game winner in the 4-2 triumph at Johnstown.
Cohen was traded by the Cyclones to Phoenix (ECHL) on Monday (Jan. 5) as the future considerations to a previous deal with the Roadrunners dating back to late October. In 31 games with the Cyclones, Michael netted twelve goals and seven assists for 19 points. He is the 13th skater in team history to be named the In Glas Co ECHL Player of the Week.
Cincinnati is currently 16-13-5 on the season and will host North Division leader Wheeling tonight at 7:30pm.
Tickets for the 2008-09 Cincinnati Cyclones season are now on sale. The Cyclones Sales Department can be reached at 513-421-PUCK, extension 3. The Cyclones host the Trenton Devils on January 9 and 10 for 7:30pm clashes both nights. The club is now offering Family Four Packs (four tickets, four hot dogs, four Pepsis, four Cyclones winter hats, four public skate passes at SportsPlus and a SportsPlus game card) for just $69!
