Rock Cats take advantage of opportunities in win

New Britain, CT - New Hampshire took advantage of 13 free passes by the Rock Cats pitching staff and rode two home runs to down the Rock Cats, 12-4 on Monday night.

The Fisher Cats jumped on starting pitcher Yohan Pino, who struggled with control in the first inning. Ryan Klosterman led off the inning with a single and stole second base. He advanced to third on a throwing error by catcher Drew Butera. Pino then walked Chris Gutierrez before he unleashed a wild pitch that allowed Klosterman to score for a 1-0 lead. Travis Snider reached base on another walk by Pino. With one out, Andrew Pickney delivered a three-run homer to right field. Pino walked two more batters in the inning - for a total of four free passes in the first - but managed to work his way out of the jam.

David Winfree blasted a three-run homer to put the Rock Cats back in the game, 4-3.

David Smith crushed a three-run homer over the left field wall to break open the game, 8-3. In the eighth, Gutierrez added a two-run double. The Fisher Cats tacked on two more runs in the ninth, including an RBI single by Kyle Phillips.

Pino (4-5) finished with five run son three hits and six walks. He struck out four in 3 1/3 innings. For the Rock Cats, Brock Peterson was 3-for-3.

Robert Ray (6-4) limited the Rock Cats to eight hits and four runs - three earned - in seven innings. He struck out seven.
