New Hampshire Fisher Cats News Release

Manchester, NH- J.P. Arencibia and Travis Snider both hit two-run home runs, and Brandon Magee allowed no earned runs over six innings, but the Trenton Thunder rallied back from a 4-1 deficit to edge the New Hampshire Fisher Cats, 6-4, before a Monday night crowd of 4,872 at Merchantsauto.com Stadium.

New Hampshire (33-56) erased a 1-0 deficit in the bottom of the first inning against winning pitcher Chase Wright when David Smith (0-for-3, BB, R) drew a two-out walk and Arencibia (2-for-4, HR, 2 RBI, 2 R) belted a two-run home run, his fourth, over the centerfield wall for a 2-1 lead.

The Fisher Cats upped the lead to 4-1 with another two-out, two-run home run off Wright in the bottom of the seventh inning. Following an Arencibia single, Snider (1-for-4, HR, 2 RBI) lofted his team-leading 12th home run of the year off the videoboard in right-centerfield. That would be the Fishers' final hit of the night.

Trenton (54-35) began its comeback against losing pitcher Jean Machi in the top of the seventh inning. Cody Ehlers (1-for-4, 2B, R) doubled and scored on a double by Edwar Gonzalez (1-for-4, 2B, RBI). Austin Jackson (1-for-5, 2B, 2 RBI, R) ripped a bases-loaded, two-run double off Daryl Harang to tie the game, 4-4. Chris Malec (3-for-5, 2 RBI) knocked in the go-ahead run, scoring Colin Curtis (walk) with a ground out for a 5-4 Thunder lead.

Machi (0-3) surrendered four runs on three hits and two walks in one-third of an inning. The only out he recorded came on a single by Reegie Corona (2-for-4, RBI, R, SB) in which Gonzalez, attempting to score from second base, was thrown out at home plate by Snider in right field.

The Thunder went ahead 1-0 in the top of the first inning with an unearned run against Magee. Magee made two errors on Jackson's two-out come-backer. The right-hander failed to field cleanly and then allowed Jackson to reach second base on a wild throw to first. Malec drove Jackson in with a single to left.

Magee worked six innings, allowing just an unearned run and three singles to Malec. The right-hander struck out two and walked one.

Wright (7-2) yielded four runs on five hits in six innings. The left-hander struck out five and walked two.

Trenton relievers Jose Valdez and Anthony Claggett combined for three perfect innings of relief to close out the victory. Claggett struck out two in his two frames to notch his sixth save in seven opportunities.

The Fisher Cats open a three-game series against the Portland Sea Dogs at Hadlock Field Tuesday night at 7:00pm. Left-hander Ricky Romero (4-5, 5.99) will pitch for New Hampshire against Portland right-hander Adam Mills (0-1, 3.00). Radio coverage begins at 6:40pm on the WGIR Fisher Cats Radio Network with Bob Lipman.
