Portland Sea Dogs News Release


The Portland Sea Dogs (49-38) defeated the Reading Phillies (36-52) 5-4 Monday afternoon at Hadlock Field. Portland wins the series taking three of four from Reading. Tony Granadillo broke a 2-2 tie in the bottom of the seventh with a RBI double scoring Iggy Suarez and never looked back.

Portland fell behind 2-0 in the second inning when Neil Sellers had a two run double. A RBI single by Bubba Bell in the fifth and a RBI single by Jon Otness in the sixth tied the game at 2-2.

Mickey Hall was the lone Portland player with a multi hit game, he doubled in the fifth and added a solo home run in the eight which proved to be the game winner.

Jason Donald added a sole home run in the ninth off of Beau Vaughan to bring the Phillies within a run.

Daniel Bard earned the win improving to 2-1. He tossed 1.2 innings allowing a run on two hits. Vaughan recorded his sixth straight save. Joe Bisenius (2-3) suffered the loss surrendering two runs on two hits in 2/3 of an inning in relief.

Portland starter Kyle Jackson went 6 innings allowing 2 runs on 6 hits. Jackson walked one and struck out a Double-A career high six batters. It is the most innings Jackson has tossed since July 23, 2004 while pitching with Single-A Augusta.

The Sea Dogs begin a three game series with the New Hampshire Fisher Cats (Blue Jays) Tuesday night at 7:00 PM at Hadlock Field. RHP Adam Mills (0-1, 3.00) will make his Hadlock Field debut against New Hampshire's Ricky Romero (4-5, 5.99).
