Lincoln rallies for win

LINCOLN, NE - The Lincoln Saltdogs knocked off the Sioux City Explorers Friday night, earning a 6-3 victory at Haymarket Park. The win moves the Saltdogs back to .500 on the season at 19-19.
Lincoln starter Ryan Trytten (3-2) beat the X's for the second time in a week, allowing one run on just two hits in seven innings of work. Sioux City scored a run on two hits in the top of the first, but couldn't muster another hit in the ballgame until the top of the eighth.
The Saltdogs, on the other hand, needed three innings to find the range against Sioux City starter Dusty Bergman (0-9). Lincoln scored an unearned run in the third to tie the game at one, then broke through with three runs in the fourth to take the lead for good. Shea McFeely and Luis Perez came up with RBI hits, and Corey Harrington produced a bases-loaded bunt single to give the Dogs a 4-1 lead.
Bergman lasted through the seventh inning, but the Saltdogs came up with two more insurance runs in that frame to open up a 6-1 lead. Sioux City did score two runs in the ninth to cut the lead to three, but R.D. Spiehs came on to strike out the final batter and record his first save of the season.
For the game, McFeely went 2-for-4 with two RBI, while Perez was 2-for-3 with a pair of runs batted in as well. Harrington was 2-for-4 with his RBI, while Eduardo Rios went 1-for-2 with two walks and two runs scored. Jonny Kaplan also drove in a run, and extended his hitting streak to nine games.
The Saltdogs and Explorers play game two of their three-game series Saturday night at 7:05. Josh Kauten is scheduled to make the start for Lincoln, while Nick Singleton is expected to start for Sioux City.
