Lincoln Saltdogs News Release

LINCOLN, NE - The Lincoln Saltdogs made their first in-season addition to the roster on Friday, signing utility infielder Amadeo Zazueta. To make room for Zazueta on the roster, Lincoln released right-handed relief pitcher Amad Stephens.

Zazueta, who's 22 years old, was originally signed as a non-drafted free agent by the Houston Astros organization. He played for Venoco in the Venezuelan rookie league in 2004 and 2005, appearing in a combined 108 games over two seasons. In 2005, Amadeo hit .313, recording 62 hits in his 57 games. Zazueta then came to the United States, spending the 2006 season with the Astros' rookie-level team in Greeneville. Zazueta is a native of Culican, Mexico. He came in as a defensive replacement Friday night in Lincoln's 8-2 win over Pensacola, and went 0-for-1 at the plate.

Stephens appeared in two games for the Saltdogs, posting a 2.70 ERA in 3 1/3 innings pitched. His final outing for Lincoln came on May 13th in Fort Worth, when he allowed a run on two hits in 2 1/3 innings of work.

The Saltdogs' first homestand of the season runs now through May 25th, with games against Pensacola, Sioux Falls and Wichita. For team and ticket information, go to www.saltdogs.com.
