Senators Roar Back For 4-3 Win Over Erie

Down to their final out in the 9th inning, Mike Daniel delivered a bases-loaded triple to propel the Harrisburg Senators to a 4-3 triumph over the Erie SeaWolves on Friday night at Jerry Uht Park. The Senators snapped their three-game losing streak despite making three errors and walking in a run.
Harrisburg starter Marco Estrada was forced to exit early after taking a line drive off his foot. He went 4.2 innings and gave up an unearned run on two hits, a walk and five strikeouts. RHP Zech Zinicola (1-0) pitched two scoreless innings to pick up his first win of the season.
The Senators got on the scoreboard in the 4th inning. Justin Maxwell started the frame with a leadoff double and moved to third on a groundout. Jorge Padilla bounced an RBI single up the middle to put Harrisburg up, 1-0.
In the bottom of the 5th, Estrada retired the first two batters, but disaster quickly struck. He induced a ground ball, but the throw to first was errant and the inning continued. Max Leon followed with a single to right-center and the throw back to the infield got away, allowing the runners to move to second and third. Danny Worth followed with a liner back up the middle that hit Estrada in the foot and caromed toward third. The throw to first was bobbled and the tying run scored. Estrada was lifted and LHP Tim Bittner ended the inning by inducing a groundout.
Erie, assisted by another Senators error, scored an unearned run in the 6th on a bases-loaded walk to make it 2-1. Bittner struck out the next two batters to halt the rally. In the 7th, Wilkin Ramirez lined a home run off the Erie Civic Center beyond the left-field wall to give the SeaWolves a 3-1 advantage.
That set the stage for Daniel's 9th-inning heroics. Padilla rolled a leadoff single up the middle. After a strikeout, Erie closer Casey Fien issued back-to-back walks to Andrew LeFave and Roger Bernadina to load the bases. Another strikeout brought Daniel to the plate, who blasted a 1-1 pitch just over the outstretched glove of the SeaWolves centerfielder to plate all three runs and spring the Senators to a 4-3 lead.
Zinicola allowed a leadoff single to Deik Scram in the bottom of the 9th. He was erased on a fielder's choice groundout by Ramirez. Then, Ramirez was nailed trying to steal second base by catcher Pat Nichols for the second out. Zinicola walked a batter to bring the tying run to the plate again, but a flyout ended the game.
The Senators are now 11-0 in series openers and 21-13 overall. The SeaWolves lost their fifth straight game to fall to 15-19. The series continues Saturday with LHP Cory VanAllen (3-2, 3.19ERA) on the mound for the Senators in a 6:35 PM start.
