FORT WAYNE, IN---On Monday night, a four-run inning propelled the Fort Wayne Wizards to a five-run decision (6-1) over the Clinton Lumber Kings.

On Tuesday night, the roles were reversed, as it was Clinton that benefited from a four-run inning, going on to win by five runs (8-3) over Fort Wayne, in a game played in front of 1,126 fans at Memorial Stadium.

For the second night in a row, the Lumber Kings scored the first run of the game, as a two-out single by Tim Smith off Wizard starting pitcher Jeremy McBryde scored Ian Gac (who had doubled) from second base to put Clinton in front, 1-0.

It was the top of the second inning that caused havoc for Fort Wayne.

The Lumber Kings sent nine batters to the plate against McBryde, and took advantage of consecutive singles by Mitch Moreland, Miguel Alfonzo, and Carlos Dominguez; a double from Andres James, an infield ground out, and an error committed by Wizard Kellen Kulbacki (when he dropped a fly ball off the bat of Renny Osuna in right field) to touch home plate four times, and increase their advantage to 5-0.

Fort Wayne got on the scoreboard in the bottom of the second, when Danny Payne reached first base on an infield single, continued all the way to third base on the play thanks to a two-base throwing error charged to Lumber King starter Jorge Quintero, and came in to score on a sacrifice fly from Justin Baum; narrowing the deficit to 5-1.

Three singles, a pair of fielder's choices, and a throwing error by Wizard shortstop Lance Zawadzki resulted in Clinton adding two more runs in the top of the sixth inning, upping their lead to 7-1.

Andy Parrino belted his second home run of the season over the wall in left field with teammate Brad Chalk on base and nobody out in the bottom of the sixth to bring Fort Wayne to within 7-3, but, that would be as close as they would get the rest of the night, as the Lumber Kings added one more run in the top of the eighth inning to close out the scoring.

Quintero (2-0) who gave up the home run to Parrino in the sixth, pitched a total of 5.1 innings, allowing a total of three runs on three hits, walking one, and fanning four, en route to the victory. McBryde (0-3), who allowed a total of five runs (all earned) on seven hits, walked nobody, and struck out three in his four innings on the mound, suffered the loss.

The three-game series is now even at a game apiece, with the rubber game scheduled for Wednesday morning.

Right-hander Mat Latos (0-0, 0.00), who came to the Wizards from extended spring training in Peoria, AZ; will make his Fort Wayne debut.

Clinton will send right-hander Ryan Tatusko (0-0, 3.00) to the mound. The game can be heard on both the radio (ESPN Radio 1380) and the Internet (www.fortwaynewizards.com), beginning with the Hupe Insurance Services Pre-Game Show at 10:40 a.m. (EDT).
