
Dayton shuts down Kernels, 3-1

April 22, 2008 - Luis Montano held the Cedar Rapids Kernels to one hit over seven innings as the Kernels dropped their second game in a row to Dayton, 3-1, at Fifth Third Field. Montano (3-0) gave up a triple to Clay Fuller in the top of the seventh inning to score Efren Navarro, who had walked earlier in the inning, which was the only hit the Kernels could muster.
Kernels starter Jordan Walden (1-2) gave up three runs on six hits, walked two and struck out a season-high 9 batters over six innings. Eddie McKiernan allowed a hit and struck out one in two innings of scoreless relief.
Dayton reliever Enerio Del Rosario pitched two perfect innings to earn his fourth save of the season.
Jeremy Moore saw his six game hitting streak snapped, but walked and stole his team-high 10th base of the season.
The Kernels will look to avoid the series sweep on Wednesday night in Dayton as Michael Anton is scheduled to start for Cedar Rapids.
