
Kratz belts 2nd HR in 7-2 loss to Rock Cats

New Hampshire Fisher Cats News Release
Manchester, NH- Erik Kratz hammered his second home run of the season, and Aaron Mathews extended his hitting streak to six games with a run-scoring single, but the New Britain Rock Cats defeated the New Hampshire Fisher Cats, 7-2, before 2,449 fans Monday night at Merchantsauto.com Stadium.
David Winfree (2-for-5, HR, 3 RBI, 2 R) broke open a tight game with a three-run home run into the Poultry Products Dinner in the Den off Jo Matumoto with two outs in the top of the ninth inning, providing the final margin. Earlier in the inning, Brock Peterson (2-for-5, RBI) drove in Dustin Martin (walk) with an infield RBI single, giving New Britain (5-4) a 4-2 lead.
New Hampshire (2-8) erased a 2-0 deficit in the bottom of the fifth inning. Leading off, Kratz (1-for-4, HR, RBI, R) launched Jason Miller's 2-2 pitch into the Poultry Products Dinner in the Den for his second homer of the season. Anthony Hatch reached on an error, was sacrificed to second base on Ryan Klosterman's bunt and Mathews (1-for-3, RBI, BB) drove in Hatch with a single to left.
Miller (1-0) settled down from there, retiring the final 10 batters he faced to register the victory. The left-hander allowed two runs-one earned-in four innings. He struck out one and walked one.
Armando Garbino closed it out with a 1-2-3 ninth inning.
The Rock Cats took a 1-0 lead in the top of the fourth inning with an unearned run against Fisher Cats' starter A.J. Wideman. Jeff Christy (1-for-3, 2B, RBI) scored Winfree with a two-out double into the right-centerfield gap.
Luke Hughes (2-for-2, RBI, 2B, 3 BB) lined a run-scoring double to left-centerfield off losing pitcher Mike MacDonald in the top of the seventh inning, putting New Britain on top, 3-2. MacDonald (0-2) allowed one run on five hits in two innings.
The Fisher Cats send right-hander Scott Richmond (0-2, 6.52) to the Merchantsauto.com Stadium mound Tuesday night at 6:35pm against New Britain left-hander Ryan Mullins (1-0, 0.82).
