Two Sundogs Named To CHL All-Rookie Team

PRESCOTT VALLEY, Ariz. - The Arizona Sundogs Hockey Club, in conjunction with the Central Hockey League, today announced that first-year players Mark Kolanos (forward) and David Schlemko (defenseman) have both been named to the 2007-08 CHL All-Rookie Team, as selected by the league's 17 head coaches.

Kolanos, 23, ranks third among rookies in scoring with 56 points (29g/27a) in 60 games played this season. The 6-foot-1, 186-pound forward has gathered 13 multiple-point outings in his first pro season and ranks second in goals and scoring for Arizona. Of his 56 points, 25 (10g/15a) have come on the powerplay. The Calgary, Alberta, native played four years at the University of New Hampshire before turning pro.

Schlemko, 20, is currently on recall with the San Antonio Rampage of the American Hockey League (AHL). In 58 games with Arizona this season, the rookie defenseman has notched ten goals, 29 assists, 24 penalty minutes (PIM) and is a plus-12 rating. The Edmonton, Alberta, native is the CHL's top scoring rookie defenseman and ranks 15th overall among fellow d-men. The 6-foot-1, 195-pound Schlemko has appeared in one game with San Antonio this season collecting four PIM.

Other rookies named to the 2007-08 CHL All-Rookie Team include Amarillo's David Nimmo (forward) and Shaun Arvai (defenseman), Texas' Tyler Skworchinski (defenseman) and Odessa's Alexandre Vincent (goaltender).
