Rays Release Opening Night Roster

North Charleston, SC - The South Carolina Stingrays and Head Coach Jared Bednar announced today their 2007-08 opening night roster. The list is comprised of two goaltenders, seven defensemen, and 12 forwards.
"I feel confident that we have the skill and the talent to compete in our division," Bednar said. "Only time will tell. I'm hoping we're going to improve as the season goes on, and compete for first place in our division. That's my goal. I feel pretty strong about our lineup. We're deep up front and we have a lot of speed, so we should be an energetic and fun team to watch."
Cail MacLean will serve as captain for the second straight season while Nate Kiser and Matt Reid will serve as alternate captains.
Returnees to the Stingrays include Davis Parley in goal, Tim Judy, T.J. McElroy, Scott Romfo and Kiser on defense, and Chris Chaput, Travis Morin, Stephen Werner, MacLean and Reid at forward.
New to the Stingrays lineup this season are defenseman Grant McNeill and right wing Tom Maxwell, as well as rookie forwards Bryan Esner, Marty Guerin, Paul McIlveen, Pierre-Luc O'Brien, Steve Pinizzotto and Matt Scherer, first-year defenseman Patrick McNeill, and rookie goaltender Josh Johnson.
The Stingrays open up their 15th season this Saturday, October 20 at 7:05 at the North Charleston Coliseum against in state rival Colombia Inferno. Don't miss all the fast-paced, hard-hitting action!
