Fort Wayne, IN - Fort Wayne Wizards shortstop Jesus Lopez was selected by Midwest League managers as the league's Best Defensive Shortstop and Best Infield Arm, in the most recent Baseball America issue.

The latest edition of Baseball America, on sale until August 26, ranks the "Best Tools" of players in several categories, ranging from Best Batting Prospect and Best Pitching Prospect, to Most Exciting Player and Best Managerial Prospect.

Managers in the California League also selected former Wizards Wade LeBlanc, Matt Antonelli and David Freese, all playing with the San Diego Padres High-A affiliate in Lake Elsinore. LeBlanc was selected as having the California League's Best Changeup, Antonelli was named the Best Defensive Second Baseman and Freese was honored as the Best Defensive Third Baseman.

The Texas League managers picked Chase Headley and Nick Hundley, both with the Double-A San Antonio Missions, as the Best Defensive Third Baseman and Best Defensive Catcher, respectively.

In addition to the Best Tools, former Wizards were selected in the top-10 rankings of positional players throughout the minor leagues.

Kyle Blanks was ranked eighth among minor league first basemen, Antonelli was ranked first among second baseman, and Headley was ranked sixth at third base.

Current Wizards outfielder Cedric Hunter was the tenth-best centerfielder in his position and Will Venable, playing in San Antonio, was ranked tenth among corner outfielders.

Former number one pick Matt Bush, recently moved from shortstop to the pitcher's mound, was the fifth-best reliever ranked.
