Dayton Dragons News Release
Dayton, OH - The Cincinnati Reds continue to promote players from the Dayton Dragons roster who have played their way to the next level. The latest Dragon to get the call up to Sarasota is OF Chris Heisey. Heisey joins relief pitchers Lee Tabor and Anthony Gressick as the third Dragons player to be moved up to high A Sarasota since Saturday. Taking Heisey's place on the Dragons active roster is OF Keltavious Jones, who joins the club from Billings and will be in uniform for tonight's game against the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers.
Heisey, a 17th round selection in the 2006 First Year Player Draft, was a virtual unknown coming out of Messiah College in Pennsylvania. The left fielder has certainly put his name in the spotlight since being drafted. Heisey hit .286 with Billings last season, and has followed that up by batting .289 with nine home runs and 46 RBI for the Dragons in 2007. Heisey has shown tremendous speed on the base paths by swiping 19 bases, and has played excellent defense all season.
Jones was also selected in the 2006 First Year Player Draft, being taken by the Reds in the 27th round after playing at Darton College in Albany, Georgia. After hitting .256 in 28 games for the GCL Reds in 2006, he has really turned it up in 2007. Through 38 games with the Billings Mustangs, Jones was hitting .318 with three home runs and 25 RBI.
