Hitmen Forward Freddie Pettersson Signs In Sweden, Robin Figren Claimed By Edmonton

Calgary, AB - The Calgary Hitmen Hockey Club is pleased to announce forward Freddie Pettersson has signed a pro contract with the Frolunda Indians of the Swedish A-League (Elitserien).
Pettersson spent two season with the Hitmen from 2005-06 to 2006-07. During that time the right winger appeared in 111 regular season games collecting 93 points (43g 50a).
"Playing for the Hitmen was a great learning experience and I had an awesome time, said Pettersson. "Now as a 20 year-old I feel ready to take the next step to senior hockey here in my hometown of Frolunda, Sweden."
Meanwhile the WHL held an expansion draft today for the Edmonton Oil Kings who will begin play in the 2007-08 season. Among the Oil Kings selections was 19 year-old Hitmen forward Robin Figren.
"Obviously we had some tough decisions to make in submitting our protected list," said Hitmen GM and Head Coach Kelly Kisio. "Given the depth of our organization there were a lot of good players available, but in the end we felt we needed to protect our youth."
Figren, a third round pick of the New York Islanders in 2006, played just one season in Calgary appearing in 62 regular season games picking up 27 points (10g 17a). He also had eight points (4g4a) in 18 playoff games.
