Lansing Lugnuts News Release

LANSING- A pair of two out rallies and a strong relief performance lifted the Swing of the Quad Cities to a 6-2 win over the Lansing Lugnuts before 8,473 fans on a Grand Slam School Day at Oldsmobile Park Wednesday afternoon. Lansing has now lost it's last three games and 8-of-9.

The Swing got out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning, scoring all three runs with two men out. Chris Grossman doubled off of the left-center field wall to bring home Brandon Buckman and Mark Shorey to make it 2-0. Christian Reyes followed that up with a double of his own to push Grossman across and extend the lead to 3-0.

After plating one in the third, the Quad Cities scored twice more in the fifth on another two out rally, highlighted by a Grossman single.

Lansing continued its struggles at the plate, managing just five hits in the game. Two of them came from Joey Metropoulos, who played in his first game of the season after beginning the year on the disabled list. His two hits included a solo homer in the fourth and a double in the ninth. He scored both of the Lugnuts' runs.

Tyler Herron (1-4) got the win for the Swing, tossing 3 2/3 innings of relief while allowing just one run on two hits.

Kyle Ginley (0-3) took the loss for the Lugnuts, surrendering six runs on as many hits. Only five of the runs were earned.

Lansing (16-13) and the Quad Cities (18-15) will continue the series on Thursday night at 7:05 p.m. Graham Godfrey will make his first professional start for the Lugnuts, while Shaun Garceau (2-0, 2.38) will take the hill for the Swing. It will be a Molson Thirsty Thursday, with beer and soda on-sale for $2.
