Dayton Dragons News Release

Dayton, OH - The Dayton Dragons connected for a season-high four home runs Wednesday night as they put away the Peoria Chiefs by the score of 10-7 in front of 8,184 fans at Fifth Third Field. Justin Turner hit his first home run of the season as part of a four hit, three RBI night, and Juan Francisco also drove in three to lead the Dragons to the victory.

It was Francisco that hit the first of four home runs for the Dragons, blasting a 1-0 pitch off the batter's eye in center field for his eighth home run of the season to lead off the second. Francisco was followed by Denis Phipps, who took Billy Muldowney (LP, 2-3) out to left for the first back-to-back home runs for the Dragons in 2007.

Still in the second, Justin Turner picked up the first of his three runs batted in with a two out, two RBI single off of reliever Marco Carrillo (ND). Turner added a single in the fourth, a double in the sixth, and a solo home run in the 8th. The homer was Turner's first of the season, and his third RBI of the night. The 4-for-5 night for the Dragons second baseman raised his average to .308 on the season.

Drew Stubbs added a home run in the fourth inning, his fifth of the season, and also picked up two RBI in the game.

Peoria kept the game close, taking advantage of a couple Dragons miscues in the sixth. Rafael Gonzalez (WP, 5-0) was charged with three runs, but only one earned, as the Chiefs picked up a pair of two-out runs in the bottom of the sixth courtesy of two Dragon errors. Anthony Gressick (ND) was hit for four runs, including a two-run home run allowed to Matt Camp in the top of the ninth to cut the lead down to 10-7. Ramon Geronimo (SV, 2) recorded the final three outs to preserve the Dragons victory.

The Dragons and Chiefs continue the series with game three Thursday night at Fifth Third Field with a 7:00 PM first pitch. LHP Travis Webb (2-0, 3.47 ERA) will start for the Dragons, while the Chiefs will counter with RHP Jose Ceda (2-2, 5.68 ERA). 1410 ESPN Radio will carry the game live beginning with the Dragons Pre Game Show at 6:30 PM. The game will also be carried live on the internet via All-In Broadcasting at www.daytondragons.com.
