Steelheads look to rebound from home sweep

December 6, 2006 - ECHL (ECHL)
Idaho Steelheads News Release

The Idaho Steelheads will look for redemption this week after being swept by the Las Vegas Wranglers last week. The three-game home sweep was Idaho's first since losing three games to the Anchorage Aces (now Alaska Aces) on February 19th, 20th, and 23rd during the 1998-99 season. The team has lost three consecutive home games in the past, but not against the same team.

Home "Hope It's" Sweet Home

Idaho (11-6-1-1, 24pts; 1st place West Division) will continue its home stretch this week as it takes on the Phoenix Roadrunners (10-9-0-0, 20pts; 3rd place West Division) for a three-game series beginning tonight at Qwest Arena. Only four points separate the division foes, making this series an important one for both teams.

Noteworthy:

Six of the Steelheads next 10 games are on home ice as they hope to regain the form they showed prior to the Wranglers series, when they won 12 of 15 games at Qwest Arena. The Steelheads netted only six goals on 116 shots (5.0 shooting percentage) in the Wranglers' series, including a season-low, one-goal in Saturday's loss. Despite their recent struggles, the Steelheads still manage 3.63 goals per game, 10th best in the ECHL.

Transaction Alert

Three players have been returned to Idaho from Iowa (AHL) this week and will be dressed for tonight's game- defensemen Colin Peters and Matt Nickerson, and forward Francis Wathier.
