Florida Everblades News Release

CHARLESTON, SC - The Florida Everblades (41-19-3) picked up their fourth straight win with the help of two Dan Sisca goals to earn a 4-2 win over the South Carolina Stingrays (29-21-12) on Friday night at the North Charleston Coliseum.

As they had in the past two games, the Everblades got off to a fast start on Friday night scoring twice in the first six minutes. Dustin Johner opened the scoring with his 13th goal of the year at 3:31 to stake Florida to the early 1-0 advantage. The Everblades opened a 2-0 lead when Dan Sisca tallied a power play goal at 5:22 after slapping a shot past South Carolina goaltender Davis Parley.

The teams traded goals in the second period with the Everblades opening a 3-1 lead at 6:42 when Vince Bellissimo notched his 8th goal of the year by wristing a shot past Parley from the right circle. South Carolina however battled back to once again trim Florida's lead to one when Darren Lynch snuck a shot past Everblades net-minder Kevin Nastiuk from the right circle at 12:10 of the period.

South Carolina tallied the lone third period goal to tie the game at three with Lynch notching his second of the game and 5th of the year at 15:51 with the Stingrays enjoying a power play.

After a scoreless overtime, which included a South Carolina power play, the game moved to a shootout. The Everblades picked up goals from Dan Sisca and Phil Aucoin in the first five rounds of the shootout, but goals by Evan Schwabe and Cail MacLean sent the shootout to extra rounds. In the seventh round Paul Cabana stood up as the eventual game-winner for the Everblades after Ryan Finnerty missed the net on his attempt. The shootout win improved Florida to 8-1 in shootouts, while the Stingrays fell to 0-8 in shootouts.

In goal, Nastiuk earned his sixth straight win by stopping 40 of 43 shots to raise his overall record to 12-3-1. Parley picked up a tie in the standings after allowing three goals on 34 Florida shots and allowing three goal in seven shootout attempts.

On the power play, the Everblades finished the night 2-for-4, while the Stingrays closed out the game 1-for-3.

The Everblades return to action on Saturday, March 25 when they take on the Charlotte Checkers at 8:00 p.m. from the North Charleston Coliseum.
