Kozak hat trick fuels Charlotte win

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Rick Kozak recorded a hat trick to lead the Charlotte Checkers past the Greenville Grrrowl 6-2 in front of 7,941 fans at St. Lawrence Homes Home Ice at Charlotte Bobcats Arena Friday night.

Charlotte rallied in the second period to score three goals and take a 5-2 lead. Kozak notched his second and third goals of the night at the 00:58 and 10:24 mark of the second period, respectively. Kozak's first goal came at the 8:18 mark of the first period.

Mike Bayrack and Brandon Cullen scored for the Checkers and Dusty Jamieson scored on a penalty shot at the 3:23 mark of the third period.

Greenville changed goalies at the 11:13 mark of the second period as Cullen's goal was the fifth scored on Cam Ellsworth. Jorge Alves replace Ellsworth and stopped all seven shots on goal he faced, but was in net for Jamieson's penalty shot goal.

Jeff Glass picked up his 16th win for the Checkers making 35 saves.
