West Virginia Begins Its Final Series of the First Half with a Loss to Mahoning Valley
July 4, 2026 - NILES, OH - On Independence Day in Niles, Ohio, the West Virginia Black Bears dropped the first game of the two-game series to the Mahoning Valley Scrappers, 9-6, after another back-and-forth scoring affair. The Black Bears fought back from an early deficit to the tie the game three times before the Scrappers sealed their win with three runs in the bottom of the eighth.
