Here is a list of a few of the ideas that we are introducing for our 11th season in the community of Prince George:

This season, as the Prince George Cougars look to shoot on all opposing goaltenders, children with life-threatening illnesses will actually score. Members of the Cougars organization have decided to personally contribute an amount of money for every power play goal that is scored throughout the season (last year's total was 61 PP goals). In addition, pledge sheets will be available at the "Guest Services" (Section K) location in the arena multiplex, encouraging fans to sign up for the year, or to leave a flat donation. Need an extra incentive to sign up? Well...how about a $1000 Mountain bike courtesy of MB Racing. For every fan who joins to help make wishes come true, their names will be entered in a draw box for a chance to win a top of the line mountain bike from MB Racing. The Make-A-Wish Foundation grants wishes for children between 3-17 years who have a life-threatening illness. The Cougars partnership goal with the Make-A-Wish Foundation is to enrich the human experience with hope, strength, and joy.

The "Breakaway For Books" program encourages elementary school students to read outside of their regular schoolwork. Students who read eight books outside of the classroom will be entered into a draw for a chance to win special Cougars prizes. As a special incentive, the school that achieves the highest percentage of students completing the program will receive a visit from Cougar players and Rowdy Cat.

A partnership has been developed between the Prince George Cougars and Child Find Prince George. At selected Cougar home games, children will be encouraged to get their finger prints recorded, along with a head shot picture, which will be stored in Child Find records to help decrease the amount of missing children's cases.

The Prince George Cougars are very proud and excited to be a part of the community ticket program. A joint venture with CN, this program allows both organizations to demonstrate their appreciation for the continuous support that has been received over the past years by allowing deserving member of the community to attend a Cougars game for free. The Community Ticket Program and the Cougars are always interested in hearing about deserving members of the Prince George community.

Just as exciting, Bell Canada and the Prince George Cougars have once again joined together to create the "Captains Clinic". In this clinic, Cougar captains, and assistant captains, will attend 8 minor hockey practices to help develop and promote positive hockey skills. As the season progresses, some minor hockey players will then compete in numerous skill competitions during the intermissions of 8 Cougar games. "Minor hockey is an integral part of the community in Prince George. It is our goal to ensure that the right steps are taken to help its growth and development", states Cougars Business Manager Brandi Brodsky.

"The Cougars and Campbell's Chunky Soup Academic Achievement Bursaries" have once again been established to help reward the achievements of our hockey players. Here, Cougar players are rewarded for their academic accomplishments by being presented with bursaries provided by Campbell's Chunky Soup. "We encourage a high level of excellence not only on the ice, but in numerous aspects off the ice. We promote academic achievement with our players and see to it that they reach the highest levels in terms of their education", says Brandi Brodsky, Cougars Business Manager.

The Cougars are ready to hit the ice this season to provide fans with a full package of entertainment. Be there as the new breed of "Cats" prowl into the upcoming season Saturday September 25. Tickets available at Ticketmaster.
