Kolzig To Join Ams Staff As Goalie Consultant

Kennewick, WA - The Tri-City Americans are pleased to announce that Washington Capitals goaltender and former Americans netminder Olaf Kolzig has joined the club as a goaltending consultant. Kolzig will join the staff next Monday in preparation for the clubs home opener on Saturday, October 2nd when the Americans host the Kamloops Blazers at 7:05 pm in the Three Rivers Coliseum.

Kolzig is excited to join the staff and stated, "It's great to be involved with the team as a member of the alumni. This is a bit of a role reversal from student to teacher for me and I'm looking forward to working with Carey Price and Jesse Deckert. This a a great opportunity for me to stay involved in the game while the NHL work stoppage is on."

"Any time we can bring an alumnus to the organization and access the expertise of a National Hockey League veteran and who is revered in the community as Olie Kolzig is a tremendous boost to not only our franchise, but our hockey team as well," said Americans vice president/general manager Bob Tory. "Our young goaltenders will certainly benefit from his knowledge, teaching and experience."

"What a tremendous asset he will be to our club," said Americans head coach Don Nachbaur. "Olie will be a great example and the knowledge he will pass on to the kids and show them what it really takes to improve and advance is invaluable."

"He's been through the process and this will be good for Olie too," added Nachbaur. "This will give him an idea of the behind the scenes structure of coaching."

Single game tickets for the Tri-City Americans 17th WHL campaign in the Mid-Columbia are on sale from 10 am to 5 pm weekdays at the Three Rivers Coliseum box office, all Tickets West outlets including Red Lion Hotels. Single game ticket prices are $15 for adults, $12 for seniors (62 and older), $10 youth (3-17) and students with ASB cards. Walk up fans will be subject to an additional 25-cent facility fee on each ticket purchase. As an added bonus, parking is free for the first time in club history.

Americans fans can avoid the facility fee by purchasing a season ticket or a 7-game or 18-game flex pack. These can be purchase Monday through Friday at the Americans office on the lower level of the Coliseum. For information call 509.736.0606, ext. 253.
