Brandon, Manitoba -- Today is McWheat King Day in Brandon as the Wheeat Kings continue to prepare for Friday's Coca Cola Bottling Home Opener at the Keystone Centre.

Members of the Wheat Kings will be visiting the Richmond Avenue McDonalds. serving Big Macs, taking orders and working the drive-thru.

A total of twelve players including captain Tim Konsorada, Ryan Stone and defenceman Andre Blanchette will be visiting during the lunch and dinner "busy" times.

Konsorada will be joined by Finnish born Sami Sandell and 19-year old blueliner Jon Webb from 11 a.m. to noon; Stone, Jon Lawrance and defenceman Tyler Boldt will be working from 12 noon to 1 p.m.; Blanchette, Corey Courchene and 16-year old rookie Mike Cann will be attending betweeen 5-6 p.m. with veterans Stephane Lenoski and Jeff Topilko teaming up with rookie Morgan MacLean from 6-7 p.m.

McWheat King Day is an annual event in Brandon and is held during the week leading up to Brandon's Coca Cola Home Opener. McDonalds is one of the hockey club's six major sponsors, joining The Brandon Sun, Monsanto, Simplot, Molson Canadian and Coca Cola Bottling.

The Wheat Kings bring the curtain up on the 2004-2005 regular season on Friday night against the visiting Regina Pats at the Keystone Centre.
